My old friend from uni asked if I'd do an interview for her and of course I willingly obliged.  We have been great friends for nearly 10 years and we still keep in touch.  She has been there for me to celebrate the small victories as well as was the one who encouraged me to follow my passion.

I remember when I was petrified of starting my own label and this is what she said to me :

"the thing is right, we are still young enough to make mistakes and laugh about it, so just do it!"

this quote has stayed with me till this day.  I often share this quote with others who are thinking of starting new adventures.

Behind the scenes.

It was great to work with the same team lead by Shirin Carter with Craig Williams, Phoebe Limanta, beautiful model Steph Wood and my helper of the day, Pip Byrne.

WINTER 12

When I was 25, I decided to quit my job at an Architecture firm in Perth to pursue my interest in Fashion.

I went back to Japan where I was born and was accepted to study at the prestigious Bunka Fashion College where Yohji Yamamoto, Junya Watanabe, Tsumori Chisato had graduated from. My Japanese wasn't perfect but I got through it.

I never looked back!

2011 has been a wonderful year for Monster Alphabets. I have achieved so much. To think how far I have come since this time last year is truly astounding. Thank you to all my friends and family who have supported me and invested so much faith in Monster Alphabets. With out you, none of this would have been possible.

2012 is looking very exciting already with my garments going in to stores for you all to see. My next step would be a website!!

Needless to say, my very first photo shoot there was obviously one very scared designer...

However, it was an awesome day. My friend Alison was there to help me out. The day would not have been possible without her. On the day I was very nervous and this caused me to be clumsy, spilling water everywhere, ironing the same spot over and over.... Alison's calm and cool helped me to relax and channel my focus.

Thank you to everyone on the team. Your generosity in service and time, your talent, your humor, made everything perfect on the day. Thank you also to James and Romina from ZEKKA for letting me borrow the beautiful boots.

It was just MAGIC!
